The APA APOLLO bursary scheme was created to educate the top achieving boy and girl from Cheleta Primary School and hailing from Githongoro slums in the outskirts of Runda. The bursary fund currently in its 9th year has ten students in high school with the recent two being admitted to Ruchu Girls and Kiambu Boys High School. Some of the alumni of Cheleta School are now in various places of employment and universities.
Cheleta School’s overall performance has greatly improved since the bursary program was introduced with the average score rising to 320/500 from 195/500. This is due to increased competition amongst the pupils to achieve top boy/girl status. The bursary also caters for consistent mentorship for the students and internship opportunities at APA on completion of their education.
